While Clodes Solicitors are no longer able to accept instructions on a Legal Aid basis for Family Law or Criminal Law matters, the firm continues to offer Legal Aid representation and advice in the area of Mental Health Law, with particular expertise in representation at Mental Health Tribunals.
Legal Aid in Mental Health Law
Legal Aid remains available for certain matters under Mental Health Law. This includes advice and representation for individuals who are detained under the Mental Health Act, those subject to community treatment orders, and individuals seeking to challenge their detention or treatment before a Mental Health Tribunal. Legal Aid may also be available for related matters, such as aftercare arrangements and issues concerning guardianship.

- Representation at hospital managers’ hearings
- Advice on community treatment orders and aftercare provisions
Checking Your Eligibility for Legal Aid
Legal Aid is subject to both financial and merits-based eligibility criteria. Not all areas of law are covered by government funding, and eligibility will depend on your individual circumstances and the nature of your case. Other Areas of Law
At present, Clodes Solicitors are only able to offer Legal Aid funding for matters relating to Mental Health Law. For all other areas, including Family Law and Criminal Law, alternative funding arrangements will need to be considered.
